Best spots for seeing Spring in Cornwall

February 12th, 2016

Spring has recently been announced as officially arriving in Cornwall, as the Magnolia campbellii trees bloomed early this year. For the chance to see some of these spectacular blooms and other flowers that have arrived early this Spring, here are the best places to visit.

Caerhays Castle Gardens

Famous for the woodland garden which overlooks the sea and extends to over 120 acres, Caerhays is host to the Plant Heritage national collection of magnolias with over 500 varieties on show.

Tregothnan

Tregothnan is a “safe site” for keeping rare or endangered trees from across the world, as well as many native plants. Some of the endangered plants and trees are larger than those that remain in the wild.

Trewithen

A historic private Estate boasts one of the loveliest gardens in England. Woodland walks, and the family home, the garden has a splendid display of magnolias, rhododendrons and camellias, making this a Cornish gem.

The Lost Garden of Heligan

Heligan’s gardens have over two centuries of horticultural history, spread over 200 acres of land. The Lost Gardens are host to the national collection of rhododendrons and camellias, and have a huge variety of trees and plants to amaze visitors.

Trebah Garden

With a coastal backdrop, this sub-tropical garden is the result of 175 years inspired creation. Teeming with colour and exotic blooms, the garden is in a valley that follows down to the Helford River.

If you are enjoying family friendly holidays in Cornwall this Spring, take the chance to have a day out with the children and visit any of these places to see the best Cornwall has to offer this season with the new flower blooms and gorgeous magnolias.
