Cornwall set to become energy independent?

March 16th, 2015

It is believed that Cornwall could generate all the renewable energy it needs to be self-sustainable, and could show the rest of the country how to do the same.

This is according to the organisers of a conference taking place at the Eden Project. Together with BuroHappold Engineering, the conference is going to look at how Cornwall can achieve energy independence.

Interested parties are coming together to create an action plan for Cornwall, which is then hoped to be replicated both countrywide and worldwide.

Cornwall is blessed with some of the best renewable energy resources in the world, and by combining the full range of renewable energy providers, such as wind, marine and solar, it could be possible for Cornwall to become self-sustainable.

It has also been stated that if they cannot make Cornwall energy independent, then it will not be possible in the rest of the country. The organisers are also looking to ensure they have the interest of the Cornish locals in mind, so that they, as well as holiday makers will benefit greatly from the proposed project.

If this project is achieved, sustainable energy could be powering business and homes, including our luxury cottages Cornwall. With this in mind, Cornwall’s energy efficient future looks bright, so watch this space!
