Fantastic events this February in Cornwall

We’ve rounded up some the best events happening in Cornwall throughout February close to The Valley’s luxurious range of Cornish cottages.

Turtle awareness week – Newquay’s Blue Reef Aquarium is running Turtle Awareness Week throughout the half-term holidays. The aquarium operates one of the most successful sea turtle rehabilitation and release programmes in the UK and is currently caring for a young loggerhead turtle which stranded on a Cornish beach in January.
Visitors will be able to find out all about the rescue and ongoing treatment programme for the female turtle with an exclusive exhibition featuring images, video and daily updates on her condition.

Eden Survival – Let loose your inner survivor at Eden this half-term, the younger children will love meeting Stick Man in the family tree whilst older children can pick up essential survival techniques from the experts.  They’ll learn to make fires, shoot blowpipes and build shelters. Meanwhile, get close encounters of the creepy crawly kind with Crocodile Joe and his friends.

Starstruck Supersize Extravaganza – Head to the Falmouth National Maritime Museum and take part in a 360 degree tour of our amazing solar system. Explore the wonders of space and science as you are taught about the universe’s astronomy.

The Witches – Roald Dahl’s most famous and probably scariest book is being performed at Hall for Cornwall much to the delight of children and adults alike!
Directed by Curve Artistic Director, Nikolai Foster, The Witches features a hugely talented cast of actor-musicians and mind-boggling illusions that will leave you flabbergasted!
The Witches contains stupendously scary bits and is recommended for children aged 7+ and their brave grown-ups.

Willie and The Bandits – Head to the Falmouth Pavilion and enjoy the blues rock from Willie and The Bandits. This three piece rock out in the same vain as the late Jimi Hendrix with psychedelic and moody sounds but with their own unique sound also coming through from this traditional 3-piece line up.

Hall for Cornwall – These prestigious venue hosts a variety of fun events from stand-up comedy, musical events and shows for the children.

First of all is this one for the little ones

Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 February, Cbeebies star and ultimate arts and craft hero Mister Maker arrives for his first live theatre tour, Mister Maker and The Shapes Live!  Packed full of ‘crafty’ adventures there’ll be a big ‘make’ to take part in, super songs and a fabulous supporting cast and, of course, the colourful all-dancing The Shapes!

And for the adults:

Let It Be arrives at HFC from Monday 15 to Saturday 20 February.  The hit West End and Broadway Show showcases the music of the world’s most successful band The Beatles, in a spectacular concert charting their meteoric rise; from their humble beginnings in Liverpool’s Cavern Club, through the height of Beatlemania, to their later studio masterpieces. Packed with over 40 of The Beatles’ greatest hits, travel back to the magical sixties when all you needed was love, and a little help from your friends!

East Cornwall Hunt Point to Point Meeting – The East Cornwall Hunt Point to Point is a horse racing event over a well-established course near Liskeard.  Race distances are between 2.5 and 3 miles over brush fences with a minimum of six races. This family day offers something for everyone, those wishing to make a few quid can put some money down on whatever horse they feel lucky with. There is a fantastic food and beverage area meaning you can tuck it into wide range of food from local produce to more international fare.
