FALMOUTH TOWN CHAMPAGNE DAY
13 August 2014
Travel just four miles from the Valley on August 13 and you’ll find yourself in a town awash with champagne, as Royal Falmouth Yacht Club hosts its annual Falmouth Town Champagne Day.
Not only will there be magnums of Bolli aplenty as visitors watch yachts race around outside the town’s harbour, but there’ll also be a fantastic display from the famous RAF Red Arrow Air Display team.
The Champagne Race day celebrates the day in 1951 when Lord Shawcross and his friend Jack Silley abandoned a race they were competing in to race purely against each other, for a case of champagne.
