Golowan Festival Provides Boom for Local Economy

A report by VisitCornwall has revealed that Penzance’s much-loved Golowan Festival brings in an astonishing £1.5m to the local economy each year. Following the news, organiser Andy Hazlehurst issued a call to the area’s local people and businesses for sponsorship, to help make 2012’s event another memorable spectacle.

Hopes are high that this year’s Golowan will be even better than the record-breaking 2011, and the attractions expected to make up the celebration are as attention-grabbing as ever. These include distinctively Cornish pursuits like a pasty eating race, ‘welly wanging’, hay bale tossing and traditional wrestling. On top of this, the festival will be hosting its own Olympic celebrations with the Golowan Games (also known as the GOLympics).

So, what better way to enjoy a stay at luxury accommodation in Cornwall than with a trip to this exciting and altogether unique celebration of Cornish heritage?
