Preparations pick up pace for Cornish oyster festival

Excitement is gathering around the up and coming Mylor Oyster Gathering and Seafood Festival taking place this spring.

To celebrate the last weekend of the season, festival goers are given the chance to join the oystermen on the water and be a part of one of the last remaining sailing oyster fleets working on the last wild oyster beds in the south west.

Back on land, one can enjoy traditional harbour entertainment such as live music, a fresh local seafood market and top chefs working wonders with some of the freshest seafood specials that can be tasted across the land. Brave culinary cavaliers can try an oyster in its raw state, one of the more interesting dishes available during the festival.

The oyster festival takes place in Mylor Yacht Harbour, near Falmouth, from Friday 30 March – Sunday 1 April. Should you be enjoying a stay in one of the elegant luxury cottages in Cornwall this spring, it could be just the event to sample one of the most celebrated, traditional events in the county.
