NEW WEBSITE DOCUMENTS FALMOUTH HISTORY THROUGH PHOTOGRAPHY
28 February 2012
A new website has been launched featuring 5,000 images of Falmouth, with some dating back as far as 1870.
The exciting online gallery, which can be found at www.rememberfalmouth.co.uk, was created by the Royal Cornwall Polytechnic Society in an attempt to document and explain the intriguing and enigmatic story of Falmouth through time.
It is hoped the history collection will be accessible to the community and all who are interested in Falmouth’s fascinating journey, whilst there are also photographs focusing on the development of neighbouring communities such as Penryn and Flushing.
Alongside photographic documentation, the website allows anyone with memories or experiences to add comments on specific photos, thus extending its historical narrative beyond photography.
Should you be planning on staying in some 5 star accommodation in Cornwall whilst on a trip to Britain’s most sought after holiday destination this year, it could be well worth investigating the site for a taster of what Cornwall is about.
