Two west Cornwall venues listed among UKs top food pubs

Two pubs in the surrounding countryside of Penzance have been named in the UK’s top food pubs.

Both the Funard’s Head, near the beautiful village of Zennor, and The Victoria Inn in the picturesque village of Perranuthnoe, were praised for their high quality food by judges in the Budweiser Budvar Top 50 Gastropub 2012 awards.

Organised by leading pub industry magazine The Publican’s Morning Advertiser, the awards scoured the country for the best gastropubs around the nation and both places received votes from industry experts including food writers, celebrity and executive chefs, pub company chiefs, pub guide editors and gastropub operators.

Rob Willock, The Publican’s Morning Advertiser group editor, said he believed the pubs fully merited their place in the list. He said: “Both venues are excellent gastropubs and richly deserve their places in the top 50, offering their diners fantastic quality food in a warm atmosphere”.

A county renowned for its beautiful views and stunning beaches, it has also proved itself to as a place of rich culinary quality, perhaps the perfect ingredient to add to your relaxing holiday in some luxury cottages in Cornwall.
