Olympic Torch sweeps through Falmouth and Truro on tour

With the Olympic Games in Britain beckoning, a series of events have been staged to help celebrate the greatest show as it arrives on our shores. Just one of these is the Olympic Flame, an object that will embark on a fantastic journey through the country, maintaining a distance of just 10 miles from anybody in the whole country.

The Torch was designed by Edward Barber and Jay Ogerby, it features 8,000 cut out circles, each representing the 8,000 individuals that will bear the torch on its journey through the British Isles. It is a triangular prism in shape, with each face representing the three occasions on which Britain will have held the games, in 1908, 1948 and this summer; while also portraying the value of excellence, respect and excellence; all of which will be withheld in the upmost at the Games.

It will begin its journey at Lands End on the 19th May. That same day it will make its way up to Plymouth, travelling through a number of Cornish hotspots including Falmouth and Truro. If you happen to be staying in any of the luxury cottages Cornwall offers, be sure to come along and experience this rare and exciting occasion.
