EXPERTS PREDICTING CORNWALL TOURISM BOOST THIS SUMMER
9 March 2012
Tourism in Cornwall is expected to receive a welcome boost, after a multi-million pound advertising campaign unveiled by VisitEngland encourages Britons to stay in England this holiday season, looking to cash in off the back of this summer’s Olympics and the Queens Jubilee.
The likes of Rupert Grint, Stephen Fry and Julie Walters will star in short segments of film from beautiful areas of the country encouraging British holiday makers to enjoy a “staycation”.
Although Cornwall doesn’t directly feature in the adverts, experts from the county are hoping that when potential customers see the short snippets of film, they will automatically think of stunning Cornish beaches.
Malcom Bell, head of VisitCornwall, said: “Cornwall is the number one brand in England, with Devon slightly behind. So when people see the advert and see the surf, it is Newquay, Polzeath, Whitsand Bay they will think of”.
“I think when people see the rolling hillside and the beautiful coastal locations, it will be Cornwall and Devon – the main brands – which spring to mind, and not the likes of Rotherham”.
Why not see what Cornwall has to offer this summer and book one of the gorgeous luxury Cornwall cottages dotted around the county.
