Planning consent granted for Hayle quay development

Planning consent has been granted for a multi-million pound development to take place at a Cornwall quay.

South Quay in Hayle has been derelict for the last 40 years and plans include the construction of a supermarket, a restaurant and a retail unit.

As part of the planning consent, the owners of the site ING Real Estate are required to complete repairs to Hayle’s historic harbour walls, according to Cornwall Council.

Local Cornwall Councillor John Pollard credited the news as ‘another major step forward for Hayle.’ He continued: “The successful conclusion of these negotiations is a significant and very welcome stride towards the development of South Quay and the next stage of Hayle’s regeneration.”

The announcement comes after a series of new developments were recently opened in the county to the public, such as the much heralded Heartlands Project. Why not check them out whilst on a British holiday in one of the stunning cottages in Cornwall this summer?
