CORNWALL DECLARED AS UK'S BEST HOLIDAY DESTINATION
14 May 2012
The credibility of Cornwall as a tourist hotspot has been boosted once again, after the county won a recent poll to be declared the most likely holiday destination in the UK.
Conducted by the Sunday Mirror, it asked participants to list their favourites from a variety of holiday based categories, including best Airline, best tour operator and best long-haul destination. The Westcountry, which includes both Devon and Cornwall, topped the most likely location to take a holiday category, winning with an astounding 31%. The regions dominance in the field was clear, obtaining more votes than second and third place put together, with the Lake District earning 11.8% followed closely by Scotland with 11.5%.
In further news, The Eden Project finished a respectable third in the UK's best day out category, beating the likes of Blackpool Tower and Kew Gardens to the accolade.
The results are nothing but good news for the region, bolstering its reputation as the place to visit this summer. Why not come and explore the area for yourself with a stay in one of the 5 star cottages Cornwall offers?
