BABY WILDEBEEST BORN AT CORNWALL ZOO
17 May 2012
A baby black wildebeest has been born at a Newquay Zoo, marking the latest in a series of new arrivals at the tourist attraction.
Zoo keepers were on hand to deliver the creature, which follows a bumper baby year at the zoo, after a baby ring-tailed lemur, roul roul partridge chicks, fishing cat kittens and Visayan warty piglets were also welcomed into the world.
John Meek, Animal Collection Manager said: ‘I am thrilled to announce the birth of a baby black wildebeest, especially because they are my favourite species in our entire Zoo collection. I think the baby is a girl, although we have yet to have this confirmed.’
Just one of many fantastic tourist attractions littered around the county, Newquay Zoo represents a fantastic day out for any of those planning a break in some 5 star accommodation in Cornwall over the coming months, the perfect base for a relaxing British vacation.
