Penzance to get new map

All the hidden gems in Penzance are to feature on a new map, which looks set to be developed after meetings between town chiefs.

Designed to show the historical, environmental and industrial attractions of the area, the Discovery Map has been successful in other parts of the country, where it has been tried and tested.

Chairman of the chamber and commerce and member of the town team Dick Cliffe said: ‘There is a lot of enthusiasm for the map. We can introduce local people, the rest of Cornwall and visitors to what the town has to offer.’

It is thought the map will cost £20,000 to get to printing stage, with a third of the funds raised through sponsorship and the rest by grants and public funds.

Should the plans come to fruition, it will shed more light on Penzance and the surrounding areas, meaning those enjoying a break in one of the stunning cottages in Cornwall can research an even wider range of diverse and exciting attractions.
