TRURO TO BENEFIT FROM DIAMOND JUBILEE WOOD SCHEME
1 June 2012
Cornwall is just one of the regions across the UK that looks set to benefit from a scheme to introduce locations for 60 new woods to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
Areas set to participate in the project have been revealed by the Woodland Trust, and Truro is one of the lucky beneficiaries.
Landowners in Truro and across Britain have been planting millions of trees to form the Diamond Woods, with each location at least 60 acres in size, which is the equivalent to 30 football pitches.
Jubilee Woods director at the Woodland Trust said: ‘We're absolutely delighted that so many different organisations and landowners have joined with the Trust to create these 60 very special Diamond Woods.’
It could be a great addition to the stunning Cornish countryside that has become such a draw for holidaymakers, many of whom take advantage of some of the beautiful 5 star accommodation in Cornwall, the perfect base for a British vacation.
