ST IVES ART TALK AT THE ROYAL CORNWALL MUSEUM
9 January 2013
If you're interested in the art of Cornwall, there's a fascinating event coming up at Truro's Royal Cornwall Museum. The museum is running a talk on the influence of the town on New Zealand artists who've visited or lived there, giving an interesting insight into the town itself and its links with the rest of the world.
The talk will involve appearances by some of the artists themselves, including both big names, like Frances Hodgkins, and more recent and lesser known artists, such as Herbert Babbage, Owen Merton and the Kellys.
The afternoon of talks will look into the affinity between West Cornwall and New Zealand, investigating some of the original aspects used to record local scenes in their own visual language.
The event should make for an interesting afternoon out for anyone enjoying a stay in one of the many cottages in Cornwall and takes place on January 17th. To book a place, or for more information, you can call the museum direct (01872 272205 ext 0).
