Perranporth prepares to celebrate St Piran's Day

The seaside town of Perranporth is once again preparing to host its annual St Piran's Day celebrations, which mark the legendary arrival of the patron saint of Cornwall to the county from Ireland in the 5th century.

This traditional event will be taking place on March 3rd, and stages a sophisticated reproduction which sees with local people dressed in the traditional Cornish colours of black, white and gold, and making their way across the sand dunes to St Piran's Cross.

Always a popular spectacle, St Piran's Day features live performances from a talented selection of actors and musicians, and provides the perfect opportunity for anyone holidaying in Cornwall cottages on the date to learn more about the fascinating history and rich cultural heritage of this beautiful part of the South West.

Whatever the weather, the St Piran's Day festivities are sure to make for an entertaining day, and one that will live long in the memories of all those who come along.
