Horse-drawn double decker could be regular feature in Truro

The magic of enjoying a horse-drawn carriage ride could soon be available to those staying in 5 star cottages in Cornwall in the future, made extra special by the fact that it is a double-decker carriage. Lizard Stallions have applied to Cornwall Council to let their shire horses and carriage be a regular feature in the centre of Truro.

The double-decker carriage will be the only carriage of its kind in the entire UK and would take up to 18 visitors around the city every Wednesday and Saturday between 11am and 3pm. Support has come from others who are happy to see the historically charming transport method become a favourite with both tourists and locals.

A representative from the Lizard Stallions, Nicky Mendham, is very excited about the project which will see two large shire horses pull the omnibus, and he has said that the iron-shod wheels will sound great on the cobblestones of Boscawen Street.

The license application will be held this week and the decision of whether it will be a permanent feature should be announced shortly after.
