Falmouth Half Marathon hailed as fantastic success

Organisers of this year's instalment of the The Falmouth Half Marathon have labelled it as a fantastic success, with hundreds of people entering and thousands more lining the streets to cheer them on.

Runners were taken past a number of iconic sights in the Cornish town, with Pendennis Castle and the Gyllngvase, Swanpool and Maenporth beaches all included within the 13.1 mile route. The overall winner was Michael Birchmore – a member of a running club in Newquay – who crossed the line with a time of one hour and 18 minutes.

The event is fantastic for local charities, with last year's inaugural race raising a phenomenal £16,000 for Cornwall Hospice Care.

The Falmouth Half Marathon is just one of the fantastic sporting events you can enjoy throughout the year. If you have already booked into one of the beautiful 5 star cottages in Cornwall this summer, why not see which events you could enjoy during your stay?
