Truro Cathedral to host world premiere of secular Requiem

Truro Cathedral will be hosting a world first this weekend when the first ever secular requiem, composed by Russell Pascoe, will be performed in public. This ground-breaking choral work contains no religious content and the libretto (text of a dramatic musical work) was the creation of Anthony Pinching.

The premiere performance of this astounding musical work has been organised to be held at Truro Cathedral on Saturday 23 March at 7.30pm. A number of respected performers will be involved in the first ever performance, including the Three Spires Singers and Orchestra, soprano Sarah Fox, world-renowned mezzo-soprano Catherine Wyn-Rogers and baritone Stephen Roberts.

Russell Pascoe spent 20 years dreaming of creating the piece and 6 months composing it, and helped Anthony Pinching choose recognisable secular poems to create the libretto.

The event presents an opportunity for a great night out in Truro whilst staying in 5 star cottages in Cornwall and tickets range from £16 to £21 for the premiere, which will also include performances of Verdi's Te Deum and Strauss's Four Last Songs.
