TRURO PLAYS HOST TO UNIQUE ELECTRIC CAR RALLY
27 March 2013
Truro played host to a revolutionary racing event earlier this month, becoming one of the first locations in the country to hold an electric car rally.
More than 40 electric vehicles took to the starting grid, with the Nissan Leaf and the Peugeot iON among the popular models which lined up on Truro's Lemon Quay before embarking a 26 mile route to St Austell, travelling through the beautiful Trelissick Gardens and boarding the unmistakable King Harry Ferry along the way. With electric cars quickly becoming a powerful force in the battle against climate change, there has been much speculation that the event could return next year – sure to be popular with the crowds that lined the route.
The event was aimed to raise awareness of electric vehicles in Cornwall, while also demonstrating the wide variety of events that take place in Truro throughout the year, all of which can be enjoyed during a stay in any of the self catering cottages in Cornwall throughout the year.
