£500,000 OF FUNDING AWARDED TO HALL FOR CORNWALL
9 May 2013
Truro's Hall for Cornwall was recently awarded £500,000 from the Paul Hamlyn Foundation, giving the popular entertainment venue the opportunity to reach out to even more potential theatregoers.
The Hall for Cornwall has established itself as one of the top entertainment venues in Cornwall and regularly welcomes hundreds of thousands of visitors every year to see the best in theatre, ballet, opera and entertainment.
The £500,000 will be awarded over a five-year period and will be used to attract more locals and visitors to come and see a production at the Hall for Cornwall. Julien Boast, director of the venue, described the funding as a great chance to "bring people together and strengthen communities", ranging from the old to the young, lovers of opera to rock fans and those enjoying a holiday in self catering Cornwall cottages to local Truro residents.
Exact details of how the funds will be spent have yet to emerge, but the plan is generally to make it easier for people to access their work.
