Nigel Slater visits Tregothnan for tea inspiration

Top celebrity chef Nigel Slater has recently paid a visit to Cornwall to visit the beautiful Tregothnan estate near Truro. A popular attraction with those staying in luxury cottages in Cornwall, Tregothnan's famous tea-producing facilities attracted Nigel Slater to make a special visit.

Tregothnan has been home to the Boscawen family since 1335, and in that time they have turned the house and garden into one of the most fascinating places to visit in all of Cornwall. Members of the public tend to view the garden on private visits, aside from selected opening days, and the top souvenir from any visit has got to be some of Tregothnan's famous home-grown English Tea.

As part of Nigel Slater's new series Supermarket Farm, the chef visited Tregothnan to learn about the tea growing and making process, using Tregothnan's microclimate as inspiration to attempt growing his own tea. He also picked some fresh tea leaves to experiment with when cooking, or to take home to make his very own cup of Tregothnan English Tea.
