ROSAMUNDE PILCHER'S NOVELS ATTRACT VISITORS TO CORNWALL

22 May 2013

Rosamunde Pilcher's novels attract visitors to Cornwall

According to Visit Britain, the South West has become a favourite holiday destination for visitors from Germany, with a 14% increase in the number of German tourists in the past year. In line with this, it has recently been suggested that this is because they wish to visit the setting of some of the novels by popular romance author Rosamunde Pilcher.

The romantic novels of Rosamunde Pilcher have often been set in Cornwall, including Cliffs of Love and Shell Seekers, and these have been hugely popular in Germany. Many have been adapted for German television, featuring Cornish scenery and German actors that regularly attract more than 7 million viewers on a Sunday night.

The Duchy's beautiful scenery, wildlife and cultural landmarks have drawn many people across the UK to enjoy a holiday in luxury cottages in Cornwall and, given these latest figures, it appears that people all across the world consider Cornwall to be a top destination to visit for an unforgettable holiday.
