Newlyn Art Gallery gets financial backing for gardens regeneration

An art gallery in Cornwall has received the financial backing required to regenerate its gardens and build an outdoor workshop and community space.

The Newlyn Art Gallery – which had a costly expansion and modernisation six years ago – managed to raise £5,000 through sponsorships and donations from local businesses and individuals.

Simon Jacques, who is in charge at the popular gallery, is planning on introducing 'colour and fragrance' to the outdoor areas by introducing raised flower beds, a new paved granite walkway and a 6m sea-inspired bench, which will be created by local artist Tom Raffield.

Still very much in its early stages, the development of the front garden is expected to be completed within the next month or so, with work expected to continue into next year.

Come and check out the gallery today whilst enjoying a break in one of Cornwall's 5 star cottages today.
