Celebrate Midsummer at the Golowan Festival

If you're taking one of the many cottage holidays in Cornwall this summer, there's a fantastic festival on the horizon. The traditional Golowan Festival will be returning to Penzance once again, one of the last surviving midsummer festivals in Cornwall.

The festival has had a chequered past, with it banned by town authorities back in 1890, but was brought back in 1991 and has been going strong ever since. The Golowan Festival today has grown to become one of the "most colourful community festivals in the South West" and it's well-known for its mixture of Cornish tradition and contemporary imagery.

The festival has a packed programme of events, from live music to fireworks and performing arts, and runs from June 22nd to June 30th. More information about the festival, including a full selection of events, can be found on the Golowan Festival website.
