National Maritime Museum Cornwall in Family Friendly Shortlist

One of the great things about taking a family break in Cornwall with us is how easy it is to get to the sea. Whether you want to go swimming, surfing or just mess around on the beach, you can do so with a short jaunt to the coast.

Cornwall has a long history with the sea, whether it's with the fishing villages that have existed for centuries around the county's coasts, the use of the sea as a way of transporting tin from Cornish mines, or just because of the host of lighthouses, lifeboats and ocean rescues around its shores.

If the weather is such that it doesn't tempt you to the beach, why not discover the county's relationship with the sea at the National Maritime Museum in Falmouth? It might seem impossible to imagine with the current weather, but having a plan for a rainy day can help a lot during your holiday. The National Maritime Museum is an all-weather attraction that has just been listed in The Daily Telegraph's shortlist of top family friendly museums in the UK, joining just five other attractions around the country.

Filled with stories about the people and boats that have set out on Cornish waves, and designed to interest and appeal to people of every age, the National Maritime Museum Cornwall is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year and has plenty of events going on to celebrate.
