Cornish film premier receives star appearance

St Austell saw a star appearance in the form of director Richard Curtis recently, who appeared at a unique Cornish premier of his most recent film, About Time, at White River Cinema.

According to this article parts of the film, which stars Bill Nighy and Rachel McAdams, were filmed in Cornwall including the locations of Vault Beach near Gorran Haven, Portloe and St Michael Penkevil Church.

The director and film writer, famous for his work on Bridget Jones, Love Actually, Four Weddings and a Funeral and Blackadder, told those at the intimate screening that it was great to be back in Cornwall without the pressures of filming. He said, ‘it was lovely coming back today with the film finished with Cornwall looking beautiful and to meet lots of the people who we worked with here.’

The film was released on 4 September. With certain scenes set in Cornwall the film is due to attract much attention to the area, which boasts both beautiful coastline and countryside, where luxury accommodation in Cornwall is set to see a rise in visitors.
