Thundercats to power through Cornwall

Cornwall will play host to the action-packed event that is the Thundercat World Championships 2013 this October across two locations.

Already a popular destination for tourists with its range of attractions and 5 star accommodation Cornwall is expecting to draw a particularly huge crowd soon, with this weeklong spectacle running from 5 to 12 October. The event will see teams from 10 countries all over the world come to compete in what has been called the ‘ultimate in global inflatable boat racing’, according to this article.

Set over two locations, the official venue for the contest is Pentewan Sands in south Cornwall, with Watergate Bay, near Newquay, also to be used to test the teams against the bay’s gruelling surf.

Spectators of the championships, which are free to attend, can expect to see great action, with the sport being described as the closest thing to motocross on the water. Both adults and children will be lining up to see the high-powered boats jump 20ft in the air as they push through the surf on Cornwall’s coastline.
