Clotted cream is good for your health

A break at Cornish country cottages UK could be as good for your health as a stay in hospital if the Environment Secretary is to be believed.

Owen Paterson MP has recommended patients at hospitals across the UK should follow the example of Cornish hospitals – and serve clotted cream to patients.

The Tory minister says he believes the traditional Cornish product can improve health – which means a stay in one of our cottages spent guzzling rich desserts covered in clotted cream is practically a health retreat!

Speaking at a health conference in Scotland last week he praised the Cornwall Food Programme for serving 100,000 locally sourced meals a month to the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro, St Michael’s Hospital in Hayle and Penzance’s West Cornwall Hospital.

He said that by buying local the Cornish hospitals had not only saved money but also raised standards. Mr Paterson added that clotted cream served as a great supplement to diets and said it should be served across the NHS, prisons and schools.

So if you take a break at country cottages UK make sure you snap up some clotted cream while on holiday.
