Flybe doubles flights to Newquay airport

Despite the recent storms and much publicised damage to the road and rail network it caused making your way to a Cornwall cottage holiday could actually be easier now than it was before.

That’s thanks to airline Flybe, which has doubled the flights it lays on between Newquay and London Gatwick airports.

The news is a boost to Cornwall, where many businesses have been spreading the message that they’re open for business.

Here at The Valley we’ve been part of that effort, using the Twitter hashtag #openforbusiness to spread the word online and make sure people outside of the county are aware that most places in Cornwall are still operating as usual.

With people safe in that knowledge Flybe has made it easier to get here, and is now running six flights a day between Newquay and Gatwick as opposed to the usual three.

Exeter based Flybe has made changes to its schedule to make a 118 seat Embraer 195 plane which will be making the flights for the next fortnight.

During that fortnight the company will assess demand for seats and decide whether or not to continue running the expanded service.

To help out people suffering because of the severed rail link at Dawlish Flybe has also promised to waive all charges on the flights and will be selling them for just £37 each way.
