Fistral volunteers declare Cornwall is still ‘Open for Business’

Volunteers have been out in Cornwall in order to show people that the destination which entices so many to regularly visit the region for cottage holidays in Cornwall is still more than open for business after the eventful weather recently.

Around 50 adults and children spent a full two hours combing Fistral beach to its former picturesque glory by collecting debris that had landed on the golden sands fowling the big swells.

Volunteer Cornwall member, Andy Brelsford, who helped organise the Newquay clean-up said: "We wanted to send the message that Cornwall is open for business and we certainly felt we achieved that."

The Great Cornish Beach Litter Pick was headed by Volunteer Cornwall and Clean Cornwall, with added support from Cornwall Council's Environment and Localism Services, with additional help from waste contractor Cory.

As a result, they managed to successfully remove 35 bags of litter from the beach in time for visitors to the area for half-term to enjoy as normal.
