DEAD KENNEDYS TO PLAY AT BOARDMASTERS
4 April 2014
Legendary Californian punk band The Dead Kennedys are set to play in Cornwall this summer, after they were announced as one of the acts for this year’s Rip Curl Boardmasters Festival in Newquay.
The festival takes place each year on Fistral beach, known across the world as arguably the UK’s best surf spot.
People flock to places to stay in Cornwall for the festival and often combine a visit to it with a longer stay in the county.
The Dead Kennedys join Zane Lowe, Wilkinson, The Enemy, Oneman, Elli Ingram, Scott Matthews, The Ramona Flowers, Goldirocks, A Plastic Rose, Isaiah Dreads, Amber Run, Bat & Ball, Magnus Puto, Ghouls and Antimatador on the bill for the summer celebration of surf.
Boardmasters 2014 kicks off on August 6 and runs over the weekend until August 10.
All the artists mentioned will be playing in support of headliners Bastille, Chase and Status and Snoop Dogg.
Other artists set to play the festival include Palma Violets, Bipolar Sunshine, George Ezra, Reel Big Fish, The Cribs, 2manydjs, Duke Dumont, Roni Size, Peace, Boy & Bear, The Cuban Brothers, Raleigh Ritchie, Yuck, Emily & The Woods and Eton Messy.
The festival has become bigger each year it’s taken place, with more than 150,000 people visiting last year.
The action won’t be confined to the stage, with Fistral hosting an international surf competition during the festival with categories including Men’s Open, Women’s Open, Men’s Longboard, Pro Junior and Under 16s.
