WEST PENWITH WILDLIFE PROJECT GETS MORE FUNDING

Visitors to our pet-friendly cottages in Cornwall often ask us where they can go to see wild animals in their natural habitat while on holiday in the county.
This year we’ve been able to tell them about the work a leading Cornish wildlife charity has been doing Penwith, near Penzance.
Since last September Cornwall Wildlife Trust’s Wild Penwith project has been working to restore eight acres of wildlife habitat thanks to funding from South West Water.
Now we’re going to be able to keep telling our guests to head even further South West, as the project has been granted more funding.
South West Water has just announced it’s set to support the project for another year and help manage the habitat for even longer.
The project sees volunteers meet each week to clear scrub and bracken on historic sites, repair hedges and clear invasive plants.The Cornwall Wildlife Trust says the work at West Penwith, and similar work elsewhere, is vital to keep areas open for wildflowers and insects as well as for all the wildlife that live th
