CORNISH FOOTBALLER HEADING TO THE WORLD CUP
10 June 2014
The World Cup may be taking place more than 5,500 miles from the Valley’s luxury self-catering Cornwall cottages, but one man from nearby will be heading out there.
And although none of the England squad members were born in Cornwall one man who was will be heading to Brazil to play football this summer.
Truro man Andrew Henderson, who is just 22, has been picked to perform in Brazil during the tournament.
That’s because he’s one of the best football freestylers in the world, and has been crowned World Freestyle Football champion on three separate occasions.
Andrew has mastered the art of intricate ball-control and spectacular tricks with a football.
He’ll be performing those tricks in fan zones near to stadiums hosting world cup matches and just like the England team he’ll have to adapt to the hot and humid conditions.
Part of his preparation for those conditions was here in Cornwall, at the Eden Project.
Andrew visited the Eden Project’s Rainforest Biome where he warmed up by performing physically-demanding freestyle tricks in the extreme heat and humidity of the tropical biome.
It gave the Brazil bound football star an insight into the conditions that he will encounter during his time in the country.
