River Fal Oysters and Mussels back on the menu
Following an extended period of enforced closure earlier this Summer due to raised levels of E Coli, local Oyster and Mussel fisheries on the Fal River and Falmouth Bay are delighted to have now received the 'all clear' from the Cornwall Port Health Authority following consecutive clear tests.

As well as being regular favourites on The Valley's Cafe Azur specials board, Falmouth Oysters and Mussels are the focus of the annual Falmouth Oyster Festival which this year will run from 9th to 12th October. This ever popular event features plenty of fresh local food and drink produce, seafood cooking demonstrations from some of the county's foremost chefs, live music, and plenty of fun activities to suit all ages. Timed to coincide with the traditional start of the oyster dredging season, the Falmouth Oyster Festival is an important date in the calendar for Cornwall food and drink producers who offer visitors to the festival the chance to sample their wares, particularly traditionally dredged native oysters which are prized across the UK's top restaurants and hotels. Obviously the 'all clear' news has been greeted with a collective sigh of relief amongst everyone connected with the festival and the wider community.
