HAVE YOU SEEN CORNWALL’S REAL-LIFE LITTLE MERMAID?
11 September 2014
Some people might wonder what was in your afternoon tea if you told them you have seen a real-life mermaid while on your luxury self-catering cottage in Cornwall . However, they would have to think again as a 19-year-old girl from Kernow has achieved a dream and made Cornish myth very much reality after becoming the UK's first professional mermaid.
This mermaid, otherwise known as Emily Keat, studied textiles at college and currently lives in Wadebridge. While studying she made an impressive mermaids tail. She tried out her hand made two-metre tail for the first time last month. The 19-year-old recently finished her studies, completing a foundation degree at Truro and Penwith College, during which time she made her very own silicone swim suit - which has proved to quite a hit!
Preliminary tests by the real little mermaid were successful and now Emily is making a living as a mermaid by modelling and performing. Since becoming a mermaid Emily has already had several modelling jobs as well as children’s parties. She is not content with this and is currently looking to expand her range of jobs as a mermaid.
