When on holiday it can be tiring to think of things to do with the little ones, so we have found five fantastic activities all happening near our family accommodation in Cornwall during the summer holidays, giving you peace of mind for your family holiday.
The Valley itself is perfect for children when not taking advantage of Cornwall’s beautiful and fun surroundings. The Valley is a security access gated complex, providing a safe and secure environment for your little ones as well as fantastic facilities such as an indoor and outdoor heated swimming pool, a separate games room as well as play areas for all ages!

Play Fest, Truro
Play Fest, held close to The Valley at Boscawen Park, Truro, is a two day festival on the 3rd– 4th August that celebrates art, culture and community bringing together children, young people and their families. A fantastic event that involves painting, sculpture, dance, theatre, storytelling, contemporary circus workshops, interactive environmental installations and more.
Get Active Truro Festival
On 15th, 16th, 17th, 18th and 19th August Lemon Quay will be transformed into a sports and activity extravaganza as the ‘Get Active Truro Festival’ presents a host of free activities including ‘come and try’ sports sessions and demos.
Activities to get involved with take place from 10am to 4pm each day, and will include table tennis, cricket, netball, basketball, badminton, rounders, golf and dance, to name just a few!
The Holifair Festival
This family friendly event from the 12th – 14th August is a fundraising festival with live bands, talks, cabaret, barn dancing, kids areas, workshops, a dance tent, chill out spaces, walkabout acts, fire-pits, storytelling, a bar, crafts and a well-being area with a variety of workshops, classes and talks.
There is also delicious local produce being served as well as some fantastic stalls, the perfect place to pick up some holiday gifts!
Flambards Firework Spectacular
During August Flambards Adventure Park will be putting on live musical performances, theatrical shows, meet and greets and of course fireworks! See the dates below:

Cornish Country Fair
On the 28th August is the brilliant Cornish Country Fair that celebrates, well, all things countryside of course! It’s a family event with Companion Dog Shows, Clay Pigeon Shooting, Heavy Horse Displays, Donkey Derby, Lurcher & Terrier Showing, Racing & Hurdles and Rare Breed Animals to name just a few of the things going on at this family spectacular.
Don’t miss the traditional and infamous Devon and Cornwall Tug-O-War Championships, always a hotly contested event!
