ST IVES SEPTEMBER FESTIVAL ON ITS WAY
23 July 2012
Every September since 1978 there has been the St Ives September Festival, and the town is putting the final plans in place for this year’s offering.
The St Ives September Festival lasts 15 days and will be from 8th-22nd September this year. Each year the programme includes a huge range of exhibitions, concerts, workshops, poetry, comedy and theatre. In the past performers such as Barbara Dickson and Elkie Brooks have performed, and in this year’s offering other great acts look to follow including Kate Rusby and Dougie MacLean.
Visitors will be able to get involved with drop-in workshops such as life drawing and watercolour. Plays that theatre lovers can go and see include local productions of Evita and Shakespeare’s the Merry Wives of Windsor. There will be lots of free exhibitions and various different performances happening in the street so taking part need not cost a great deal.
With a festival of this calibre people staying in luxury cottages in Cornwall are spoilt for choice of things to do in the local area.
