Hart of The Valley

Of course, we can’t talk about great, dog-friendly places to eat near The Valley without mentioning our own much-loved restaurant!

The Hart of The Valley, located at the heart of our holiday cottages, is open to both guests and the public and has tables that are perfect for bringing your pooch along.

Our team are passionate about serving mouth-watering favourites made using local Cornish ingredients. Whether it’s a classic Sunday lunch or one of our special street food-inspired evenings, there’s something for everyone in a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere.

Pandora Inn

Situated in the village of Mylor Bridge near Falmouth, the Pandora Inn is an award-winning pub delivering both spectacular views across Restronguet Creek and high-quality, locally sourced seafood.

Well-behaved dogs are allowed to relax alongside their owners in the bar area, which boasts flagstone floors and low-beamed ceilings – part of the inn dates back to as far as the 13th century. There’s also a stunning outdoor seating area on a pontoon out on the water, the perfect spot to relax on a hot summer’s day.

The Punchbowl and Ladle

A traditional pub and restaurant complete with thatched roof, the Punchbowl and Ladle is situated in Penelewey near Truro, boasting bags of character both inside and out.

Previously a hostel for travellers and mariners who were crossing the river, today it is a welcoming pub owned by the St Austell Brewery, so you can expect plenty of made-in-Cornwall food and drink. It’s also proudly dog-friendly, meaning well-behaved pooches will be warmly welcomed.

The Rising Sun

Another member of the St Austell Brewery chain, the Rising Sun overlooks the Roseland Peninsula in the beautiful harbour village of St Mawes, offering some of the best views in Cornwall.

Serving a variety of modern and traditional pub dishes, the Rising Sun’s menu also boasts a host of specials, which change daily to make the most of the local fresh fish and seasonal produce on offer. With plenty of exciting things to explore throughout St Mawes, this could be the perfect stop before or after a long walk.

Carnon Inn

If you need something simple but enjoyable closer to home, the Carnon Inn Beefeater is near the centre of Carnon Downs and less than a 30-minute walk from our accommodation.

A classic family-friendly restaurant, you’ll find plenty of favourites here, including mixed grill, burgers and pies. While low on thrills, this is an option if you’re after something cheap and cheerful in the area.

Hopefully, this gives you a flavour of some of the restaurants that are just a short walk or drive from us at The Valley. However, if you’d like to save yourself the travel and experience some authentic Cornish food, we hope you’ll consider booking a table with us at Hart of The Valley!
