5 dog-friendly places to eat near The Valley

If you’re looking for a bite to eat while out and about in Falmouth, Truro and the surrounding area, read on to find out where you can enjoy a simple snack or a delicious meal with your beloved dog in tow.

Pandora Inn

Situated in the village of Mylor Bridge near Falmouth, the Pandora Inn has been awarded the Pub of the Year award in the 2014/15 Cornwall Tourism Awards. Overlooking Restronguet Creek, a visit here will promise not only spectacular views but also high quality, locally sourced fresh seafood. Well-behaved dogs are allowed to relax in the bar area alongside their owners, which boast flagstone floors and low-beamed ceilings – part of the inn dates back to as far as the 13th century.

The Punchbowl and Ladle

A traditional pub and restaurant complete with thatched roof, the Punchbowl and Ladle is situated in Penelewey near Truro, boasting bags of character both inside and out. Previously a hostel for travellers and mariners who were crossing the river, today it is a welcoming pub serving a variety of meals and snacks, with dogs welcome to sit with their owners in the bar areas.

The Rising Sun

Situated in the beautiful harbour village of St Mawes, the Rising Sun overlooks the Roseland Pensinula offering some of the best views in Cornwall. Serving a variety of modern and traditional pub-style dishes, the Rising Sun’s menu also boasts a host of specials, which change daily, making the most of the local fresh fish and seasonal produce on offer. Afternoon teas, including homemade scones and teacakes, can also be enjoyed between 2.30pm and 5.30pm.

Dolphin Inn

Located in the village of Grampound near Truro, the Dolphin Inn offers a warm friendly welcome with delicious home cooking. A full lunch and evening menu offers plenty of dishes to choose from, making the most of the abundance of local produce on offer in Cornwall. Dogs are allowed in the bar area, and there is also an outdoor beer garden, where you can enjoy a meal and a drink as you bask in the sunshine.

Café Mylor

Located between both Falmouth and Truro, Café Mylor overlooks the Fal Estuary, sitting on the banks of the picturesque Mylor Yacht Harbour. Open all year round for breakfast, brunch and lunch, there are a host of cakes, smoothies and other treats to enjoy alongside fresh teas and coffees. Dogs are welcomed at this café and treated to biscuits and water bowls, meaning that everyone can enjoy a stop here at this beautiful café.
