TRURO FESTIVAL KICKS OFF WITH MINISTRY OF SOUND GIG
8 April 2014
Truro Festival is in full swing after a spectacular launch on Friday night.
The festival, organised by Enjoy Truro, got under way at the weekend when the city’s Lemon Quay was transformed into a gigantic club venue for one night and played host to Ministry of Sound DJs.
The DJs didn’t disappoint and entertained the 500 people who attended, many of whom visited the county and stayed in accommodation in Cornwall especially for the night, until the early hours.
The night kicked off the two-week- long festival, which includes art exhibitions, live music, a comedy night, theatre shows, treasure trails, street art, pop-up theatre performances and more.
The festival is now in its second year, having proved successful in its inaugural year in 2013.
Funded by the city’s Business Improvement District, the event as grown from 40 events last year to almost 100 in 2014 – with many free to attend and something on offer for every generation.
Following Friday night’s successful launch more events took place over the weekend, with ska band the Mighty Offbeats headlining the big Gig on the Quay on Saturday and a traditional tea dance taking place on Lemon Quay on Sunday.
