Brilliant family activities to do this October half term

October half term is still a few weeks away but it is great for the whole family to be prepared before setting off on your luxury cottage holidays in Cornwall. Cornwall is a fantastic place to visit all year round, and with the events and activities taking place this half term you’ll not want to miss out!
Take a look below at some of the fantastic events that the whole family can enjoy which are taking place over October half term, which starts from 24 October to 28 October:
Paradise Park 22 Oct – 31 Oct
Paradise Park at Hayle is putting on an Owl Prowl Trail that has a special Halloween twist. The kids will love hunting through the park picking up clues about the creatures of the night. There are also other great daily events happening at the Park over the course of the week, including penguin and otter feeding, see free-flying macaws and activities at the fun farm. On Friday 28 there is also the return of the Halloween Disco between 3-6pm with a fancy dress competition.
National Maritime Museum Cornwall 24 Oct – 30 Oct
Head to the Maritime Museum in Falmouth, which is just a short drive from our luxury cottages, and enjoy some fishy-themed fun. There are workshops being held every day for families as well as the Dragons Den exhibition where kids can learn about all things Viking, where they can dress up, ride dragons, and wield swords.
Newquay Zoo 22 – 31 Oct
Cornwall’s award winning Newquay Zoo is putting on loads of fun family activities over October half term, named Zoo Boo Halloween Week. For the whole week, there is fun for the whole family, from a ghost hunt, storytelling, face painting and even creepy crawly encounters. Normal admission prices apply.
Trebah Garden 27 – 28 Oct
Trebah Garden has some creative workshops the kids can enjoy on Thursday 27 and Friday 28 during half term week. Let them try their hand at pumpkin carving and other spooky creative activities, perfectly fitting in with Halloween. Tickets are £4 a child for the workshop, which also includes all the materials.
Pendennis Castle 24 – 28 Oct
Every day during the October half term week from 11am to 5pm the castle is set to be overrun by pirates! Get the kids dressing up, and discover terrifying tales of the piratical past of Pendennis Castle on a quest through the castle and grounds. English heritage members get in for free, but normal admission prices apply to non-members.
