Christmas Activities in Cornwall

November 16th, 2018

As the weather turns a little chillier, and our hats, scarves and winter coats are out for good, we need a little Christmas cheer to warm us! Luckily, Cornwall is already getting started with their Christmas activities, providing you with plenty of ways to get into the festive spirit!

Reindeer Parade, Truro
Wednesday 28th November 2018

You’ll have a chance to spot Santa and his reindeer friends before the big day as they parade through Truro, welcoming in the Christmas spirit. Marking the beginning of late night shopping season, you’ll be able to catch a glimpse of the real reindeer getting ready for the parade from 6pm in Victoria Square before they head off for their procession throughout the city at 6.45pm. With the shops staying open until 9pm, you can stay after you’ve waved goodbye to Santa and the reindeers for a spot of shopping, or a delicious meal out!

Father Christmas Grotto in Cornwall

Festive Tales with Father Christmas, Trelissick
Weekends in December + 14th – 23rd December 2018

Over in the reindeer barn, little ones can settle down and be entertained by Father Christmas’ festive tales. Making the most magical time of the year even more special, after half an hour of story time, each child will receive a present to remember their day by! Santa will be making appearances in December on Saturday 1st, Sunday 2nd, Saturday 8th, Sunday 9th, and then from Friday 14th through to Sunday 23rd! Booking is essential for this activity and costs £5, plus the admission fee to Trelissick. Admission is free for all National Trust members.

Santa Fun Run
Dates in December

Each year, Cornwall Hospice Care hosts a number of ‘fun runs’ during the Christmas season, which sees runners don Santa costumes and race to raise money for charity! There are 5 events in December, including a 3km run in Truro on the 9th December, starting at 2pm, and the choice between a 1.5km or 5km run in Falmouth on the 15th December, starting at 1pm. Tickets cost £13.50 per adult, £7.50 per child over the age of three, or a family ticket for two adults and two children can be obtained for £37.50. A great way to burn off a few mince pies and raise money for charity at the same time!

Ice skating at Eden Project

Ice Skating, Eden Project
13th October – 24th February 2019

Back again for another winter of Christmas magic and fun, the only indoor ice rink in Cornwall returns to the Eden Project until February 2019. With a number of options available, you can skate in the general public sessions, have a quieter family session for little ones, or even partake in a series of skating lessons! The general skate sessions last for 40 minutes and cost £7 per adult and £6 per child, or £24 for four people. Skating aids are available for children, and manual wheelchairs are welcomed on the ice. To access the ice rink, a valid Eden admission ticket will be required.
