Come to Cornwall, capture a view, and you could win the Ultimate Sea View competition
July 22nd, 2015
Did you know that the Shipwrecked Mariners’ Society have launched their national photography competition? The society are looking to find the best photo that is able to capture Britain’s relationship with the sea.
The 2015 Ultimate Sea View photography competition corresponds with Seafarers Awareness Week, a national event that takes place from June 20 to June 28, with the aim of creating further awareness of Britain’s dependence on seafarers.
Currently Britain claims the stake for the largest port industry in the entirety of Europe, with more than 95% of all imports being transported via ship and 75% of exports shipped from the UK’s sea ports.
Back to the photo competition, which is currently being displayed at the Royal Alfred Seafarers’ Society care home in Surrey, which has already been viewed by Princess Anne, who is also a proud patron for the Shipwrecked Mariners’ Society. She was presented with a host of views of Cornwall, as some entries of our breathtaking and picturesque coastline have made it into the prestigious display.
We think that you might agree that there are a considerable amount of people who do not realise how essential seafarers are to the economy in the UK and just how much they contribute. For example, local restaurants near our 5 star luxury cottages, Cornwall rely on local produce being brought in from sea to serve and sell to visitors and locals alike.
If you would like to show your support and you think you know just the place to capture that awe-inspiring image, then why not enter your own photograph into the competition? Entry closes on the 7th August so you have plenty of time! And with such a feast of spectacular views across Cornwall, there will be many opportunities to find a shot that best captures the country’s lasting relationship with the sea.
