Cornish beaches awarded Blue Flag status for 2016

May 24th, 2016

There are eight beaches across Cornwall that have been awarded Blue Flags, which are recognised internationally as being some of the best in the world. Many of these beaches are close to our Cornish luxury cottages.

The eight beaches with the Blue Flag status, which is a guarantee that beach goers will be enjoying one of the best beaches in the world, were awarded to Carbis Bay, Polzeath, Widemouth, Trevone, Gyllyngvase in Falmouth, Porthminster, Porthtowan and Porthmeor in St Ives.

There are 68 beaches throughout the UK that have been awarded the Blue Flag for 2016, but the most are in Cornwall, showing that this county is definitely the place for a beach holiday this summer.

Having a Blue Flag status indicates high quality water, and the safety of the beach. Blue Flag status is recognised all across the world, so it is fantastic that there eight beaches in Cornwall with this prestigious award.

Some local Cornish businesses helped raise money to support the coast and campaign for the Blue Flag status. Having this international recognition hopes to bring more tourism to the county this summer.
