February 23rd, 2015

An unknown Cornwall-born director took a seat among the brightest stars in Hollywood last night at the world-famous Oscar ceremony’s as his film was in the running for the prestigious Best Picture accolade.

James Marsh, the director of The Theory Of Everything, is the newest director on the scene and has clearly made waves in the movie world with his talent to direct the film which tells the story of Professor Stephen Hawking, also based on the book written by his ex-wife Jane Hawking.

Mr Marsh hails from Truro, near our luxury holiday cottages in Cornwall, and grew up in Sennen before moving to Woolwich as a child.

While Mr Marsh wasn’t nominated in the Best Director category for last night’s awards his film was in the running for Best Picture. Unfortunately he was pipped to the post by the film Birdman. However, British actor Eddie Redmayne was successful in his nomination to be crowned Best Actor for his role as Professor Hawking having already won the BAFTA for his performance.

It’s a good time to be British folks!
