Cornwall named most picturesque county in England

February 02nd, 2015

New research has proven what we already knew – Cornwall is the prettiest place in all the land!

The county’s pristine beaches, stunning countryside and quaint harbours mean visitors to the Duchy have voted it the most picturesque county in England, beating Yorkshire and Cumbria into second and third spots on the list.

Thanks to the Cornish coastline, which is more than 300 miles long, and the rolling hills and valleys of Cornwall’s farmland visitors were left with vivid memories of the views on offer here.

That meant more than one on five respondents to a new survey rated the county as the prettiest they’d ever visited.

With a variety of different scenes on offer Cornwall proved popular for a number of reasons. Watersports enthusiasts said they loved it because of the hundreds of fantastic surfing beaches available, while keen walkers rated it highly for the many wonderful woodland walks that exist in Cornwall.

The friendly nature of Cornish locals meant families had fond memories of stays in Cornwall while horticulturalists rated the dozens of well-maintained gardens highly and dog owners loved how dog-friendly the county is.

The results of the survey echo those of a recent report from Google, which showed luxury Cornwall holiday cottages were searched for more often than any other British holiday destination, and only four other destinations worldwide ranked above it!
