Enjoy the traditional Cornish Christmas of ‘Nadelik’

December 03rd, 2015

Enjoy the traditional Cornish Christmas of ‘Nadelik’ at Pendinnis Castle this Weekend and take advantage of our many places to stay in Cornwall with The Valley. Why not try something different this year and steep yourself in History at Pendennis Castle and step away from the modern world.

‘Nadelik’ started to be celebrated when it started to become unfashionable to take part in traditional Christmas rituals throughout the rest of Britain, and we now know that many of todays Christmas traditions originated from Cornwall at this time.

On Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th December you can take part in a variety of traditions such as fireside Christmas tales, mulled wine and mince pies, Carol singing, crafts in the castle keep and Cornish dancing. This festive family day out has something for the entire family whether that’s making Christmas cards or taking part in the tradition of drawing a chalk man on the yule log to symbolise the death of the old year and the start of the new year.

Entry to the castle is £7.50 for adults and £4.50 for Children and that includes entry to this festive event but an additional £2.00 is required to visit Santa.
