German film crew make recent visit to Truro to shoot latest Rosamunde Pilcher episode

While the majority of visitors come to stay and experience Cornwall for it’s amazing coastline, beaches, local food, among other various appealing attractions, there’s another reason Truro in particular sees a large German contingent coming, and it’s rather quirky.

Our German friends love a trip to Cornwall due to the location filming of the Rosamunde Pilcher TV show, and this latest offering, which is based on the novels of the Cornish author is a continuation of the shows which have become a hit on prime time German television.

Recording for the latest episode saw the bride looking glowing as she paused with her new husband on the steps of Truro’s Georgian Manson House, near our 5* self catering Cornwall accommodation. It was a beautiful day for the filming of the wedding, and filming continued over varied parts of the city to film scenes for the hit show.

Dulcie Tudor, from Truro-based commercial property firm Miller Commercial who manage the illustrious Mansion House, said: “There was quite a crowd watching them and if you walked past you might think it was a real wedding taking place.”

Mansion House doubles up a town hall for the latest instalment, and a large number of the extras in the 90-minute film are thought to have been locals.

Filming took about two hours and has now finished for the day.

The crew had additionally been filming along a suburban street in the city as well as an old County Hall, which was transformed into a replica police station with pretend police cars.
